Patricia B. Wise is Vice President of HIMSS, the largest U.S. cause-based, not-for-profit healthcare association focused on the optimal use of information technology and management systems for the betterment of healthcare. At HIMSS, Wise is responsible for directing initiatives that drive the quality, efficiency, effectiveness and safety of patient care through various tools and resources. Specifically, she oversees committees and task forces including Ambulatory Information Systems, Enterprise Information Systems, Personal Health Record Information Systems, Financial Information Systems, Patient Safety and Quality Outcomes, Health Information Exchange, Electronic Health Record Association and the Davies Award Program. Wise works closely with the HIMSS Physician Community and Plug In! She joined HIMSS in 2002 as the Director of HIMSS EHR Initiatives and member of the HIMSS Industry Affairs Department and was promoted to her current position in 2005. Before joining HIMSS, Wise was the Executive Director of Computer-based Patient Record Institute and Healthcare Open Systems and Trials (CPRI-HOST), a consortium of businesses and industries that promoted electronic medical records prior to merging with HIMSS.

Carla Smith, HIMSS Executive Vice President, has been involved in the healthcare information and management systems industry for 15 years.  A certified nonprofit manager, Ms. Smith has an extensive history of work with nonprofit organizations both within and outside of the healthcare industry. Ms. Smith has executive management responsibilities for keeping the Society strategically focused on topics of greatest impact to the industry.  In these capacities, Ms. Smith reaches across all healthcare settings addressing Government Relations, Interoperability, Informatics, Research, Standards, Certification, Education, Privacy & Security, Quality, Safety, and Efficiency.  She is well-versed in transformational ideas currently underway in the health information industry - both those in practice, as well as those still on the drawing board.

Joyce Sensmeier MS, RN-BC, CPHIMS, FHIMSS, FAAN

Joyce Sensmeier is Vice President of Informatics for HIMSS, the largest U.S. cause-based, not-for-profit healthcare association focused on the optimal use of information technology and management systems for the betterment of healthcare. Sensmeier joined HIMSS as the Director of Professional Services in 2000. In her current role, she oversees clinical informatics, standards, interoperability, and privacy and security. Sensmeier became Board Certified in Nursing Informatics in 1996, earned the Certified Professional in Health Information and Management Systems in 2002, and achieved fellowship status in HIMSS in 2005. She is an adjunct faculty member in the School of Nursing at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. She previously served at Palos Community Hospital in Palos Heights, Ill., as a nursing coordinator leading clinical information system implementations.

Jim St.Clair is a Senior Director for Interoperability and Standards for HIMSS, the largest U.S. cause-based, not-for-profit healthcare association focused on the optimal use of information technology and management systems for the betterment of healthcare. St. Clair joined HIMSS in 2011. In his current role, he oversees, standards, interoperability, and privacy and sustainment of Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) initiatives in the US and internationally.

Jonathan French

Jonathan French is Director, Healthcare Information Systems at HIMSS. In his previous role, he was manager for the Federal Affairs team and was responsible for daily and strategic initiatives and for cultivating relationships with federal agencies, including acting as staff liaison for the HIMSS Federal Health Community and the HIMSS Government Relations Roundtable, and monitor for the Health IT Standards Federal Advisory Committee.

Jonathan Teich, MD, PhD

Dr. Jonathan Teich serves as assistant professor of medicine at Harvard and as an emergency physician at Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH). He founded the Clinical Informatics R&D department at Partners Healthcare, and was the primary designer of many of BWH's award-winning clinical information applications including CPOE, ambulatory records, clinical decision support systems, emergency medicine systems, and the Handbook electronic information library.
